Hunt Test, Gundog Training

What can be more fun than going hunting with a fantastic dog!

At Tru Line Retrievers, we are here to help you! We're excited to get you started and go as far as you want with your dog. While we specialize in field trail trailing, we also want to help you train for a hunt test, or with your gun dog. Whether field trail or gun dog, all the basics in these programs start the same . So whatever your current level of training, we want to help you reach your goals for your dog.

The hunt test is a great place for you if you just want to do a little with your dog. It's a great sport for the family, and a place for your kids to be able to start running your dog, if they have any interest. There are Junior, Senior, and Master Hunt Tests that you can enter your dogs into. Junior being the easiest level, up to Master.

If you are looking for a good hunting dog, there are several options, depending what you want to be able to do with your dog.

It is usually best if the dog can have 2 to 3 months in full time training to get it ready for you. However, if you would like a gun dog that takes hand casts out in the field, it will usually be about 6 months. All dogs are a little different, so some of them may be able to go a little faster. We want to be sure that each of our dogs learn everything well enough to apply it out in the field solidly, and not lose training when they go home.

Prior to accepting your dog, we will do an evaluation. Your dog must have a desire to retrieve! There are so many dogs that love it, if your dog just want to sit at home with you, we will let you know. We will also evaluate through all the training and keep you posted.

It's important to us to communicate well with you, meet your goals, and have the best program to suit your dog. Also see...  policies and fees.
